Regarding the 2025-2026 Academic Year Exemption Exams for Common Compulsory Courses (AİT-TUR-YDL)
 
Dear students,
 
In accordance with the Karabük University Common Compulsory Courses Exemption Exams Directive, the exemption exams for all Common Compulsory Courses (AIT181 / HST181 - Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolutions I, AIT182 / HST182 - Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolutions II, TUR181 / TRK181 - Turkish Language I, TUR182 / TRK182 - Turkish Language II, YDL183 / FOL183 - Foreign Language I, YDL184 / FOL184 - Foreign Language II) for the Fall Semester of the 2025-2026 Academic Year will be held in-person and invigilated on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
 
Applications for exemption exams for common compulsory courses must be submitted through https://muafiyet.karabuk.edu.tr/ by September 10, 2025. All students must pay attention to the following points regarding exemption exams:
 
1) Students who registered for the first time in the relevant academic year, as well as students who have never taken these courses before and/or who have failed them for any reason, are eligible to take the exemption exams for common compulsory courses.
2) Students enrolled in the English preparatory class or at TÖMER during the relevant academic year are not eligible to take the exemption exams for that academic year.
3) Students who have successfully taken the relevant courses in previous years but wish to improve their grades are not eligible to take the exemption exams. Even if they have taken the exemption exams for the course(s) they passed, their exam results will be considered invalid. 4) Students who enroll in the preparatory class in the relevant academic year and pass the exemption exam administered by the School of Foreign Languages ​​Directorate are also exempt from foreign language courses, and therefore can only take the exemption exams for Atatürk's Principles and the History of Turkish Revolution and Turkish Language.
5) Students who enroll in the preparatory class in the relevant academic year and continue their studies and successfully complete the English preparatory program at the B2 level are also exempt from foreign language courses, and therefore can only take the exemption exams for Atatürk's Principles and the History of Turkish Revolution and Turkish Language at the beginning of the following academic year.
6) Students who study at TÖMER in the relevant academic year and pass the exam can take the exemption exams at the beginning of the following academic year.
7) Students who score below 60 on the exemption exam are considered unsuccessful and are required to take the relevant courses. Students who fail the exemption exam may retake the exemption exams administered the following year. The numerical grade equivalent in the exam is determined according to the grade ranges and grades in the absolute evaluation system specified in the Karabük University Measurement and Evaluation Principles Directive. However, no grades will be entered into the system for students who take the exam and fail to achieve a sufficient score.
8) Students may take courses from subsequent semesters up to the total ECTS credits of the courses they were exempted from, in accordance with Article 21 of the Karabük University Associate and Undergraduate Education, Instruction, and Examination Regulation.
9) Students who apply for exemption exams but do not take the exam(s) for any reason will not be given a make-up exam.
10) Procedures regarding the announcement of exam results and objections to results are carried out in accordance with Article 25 of the Karabük University Associate and Undergraduate Education, Instruction, and Examination Regulation and the Karabük University Exam Center Coordinatorship Directive. 11) Students who attempt to cheat during exams, who cheat, who assist others in cheating, who substitute others for themselves, who substitute themselves for others, who disrupt public order during exams, or who possess communication devices in the exam hall will be subject to a report and will receive a grade of 0 (zero). Furthermore, the provisions of Article 54 of Higher Education Law No. 2547, dated November 4, 1981, concerning student disciplinary matters, will apply to these students.
 
NOTE: Taking exemption exams is not mandatory.
